Art Club:

youth edition

what is it?

This is a facilitated group experience for up to 8 kids. They will be offered a prompt to create from a well-stocked playground of art supplies.

After a set amount of time, we'll put our brushes down to engage in a dialogue about what came up for us.

The kids will experience a connection with themselves beyond the daily fray and begin to process some of the noise that can often distract us from our own voice.

why is it?

This world and our lives can be a bit stressful.

Whether it's school, friendships,  personal next steps, or social pressures and identity, it can feel like a bit much at times.  Especially right now, we all need spaces and places to feel at ease, be creative and be together without the pressure of performance, judgment or expectation.

That’s why I created Decompression Art Club: Youth Edition. After working with youth and families as an art therapist for over 15 years, I am thrilled to bring the concept of open art studio and safe therapeutic space to create and express for 5th graders and high schoolers

Limited to 8 kids per session, each is designed to prompt creativity and allow for space and time to connect, relax, and make sense of what is happening for us and around us.

All materials and snacks included.

for high schoolers

We all need spaces and places to feel at ease, be creative and be together without the pressure of performance, judgment or expectation.

This workshop is designed with young people in mind.  We will gather, think through big and small thoughts and ideas, relax and express ourselves.

This is about creativity, not artistic ability. I will always offer a prompt to get the creativity flowing and create structure. Participants DO NOT need to be an artist to enjoy this process and they are welcome to skip the prompt altogether if another idea is calling.

For the participants: You are welcome to just  show up, make whatever you want, speak for yourself, and hopefully connect with yourself and one another.

about naomi

I have been supporting families and children as a licensed art therapist since 2006. After 15 years in nonprofit and school-based work with teens, families, and in community, I opened up a private practice for individuals, and a studio practice.

That said, it is the group work and community access is an integral part of everything I do.

In the last number of years, I have witnessed the power of collective creative spaces, and as a result, developed Decompression Art Club. While DAC is not intensive group therapy, it is an opportunity to be guided professionally through emergent themes and processes while connecting with others.

All are welcome, However, for the youth edition, ages are specific to support developmental stage and social need. If you are an adult, please check out the classic Decompression Art Club.
